ACC will be sending 20 students to this event tomorrow. For those attendees that ordered food through HotLunches for that day, the orders will be deleted and your account will be credited because they will be fed at this meeting. This is certainly an exciting project and we are happy to be one of 3 pilot school groups across PEI.
Kinkora Regional High will be hosting a School Food Think Tank on Tuesday, November 20th, from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Events will also be held at East Wiltshire Intermediate and Montague Regional High. These events are an opportunity for students to make recommendations on how to improve school food environments.
These schools are hosting events because they are prepared to participate in a school food pilot program beginning fall 2019. Students from Somerset and Amherst Cove will be welcomed by Kinkora student leaders who are helping to facilitate the event. The event will include both individual feedback and group discussions about school food.
Students will be provided a lunch, free of charge, by the Kinkora Culinary class and The Handpie Company. This lunch will include options for those with dietary restrictions (vegetarian, gluten-free, nut-free, etc.) Water will be provided to drink but students are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle.
These events are a partnership between the Public Schools Branch, the PEI Home and School Federation, and the PEI Heart and Stroke Foundation. Funded has been provided through a Wellness Grant (Department of Health and Wellness).
